Movie Review
KS Ashoka debuted with the surprise hit 6-5=2. This time, he moves to a completely new genre – romance. Like Gantumoote, this one too showcases a love story through the eyes of its titular protagonist Dia. The story unfurls at its own pace and has the right twists at the right time. The tale is heartwarming, leaves you misty-eyed and has its soul in the place.
It is not too often that love stories are told in cinema without songs. But Dia, without any songs, keeps you glued to the screen. The film begins with a scarred lover on a train track and it moves forth to show her tryst with love – not once, but twice. Both these stories are crafted well and the romance is sweet, without any extra frills. The realistic treatment of the subject, coupled with deft cinematography by Vishal Vittal and apt background score by Ajaneesh Loknath, gives this film an edge.
Rooh Ki Aaah Hindi Dubbed Movie | Aaah Tamil Movie
Given that a tale like this requires performances that lift the tale, the three young actors live up to the challenge. Pruthvee Ambar, especially, deserves a special mention as he lights up the screen, reminiscent of a young Kamal Haasan. There’s also an endearing mother-son sentiment track that involves Pavithra Lokesh, and she does a fine job too.
With no extra frills and a tale that keeps you invested, Dia is refreshing. Not many tales showcase love stories onscreen from the female point of view and this one delivers one in that space. Dia isn’t for those who like their candy floss love stories which deal with just the surface level of emotions. Instead, the film is for those who want to experience cinema in a brave new style sans the commercial staples.
