Movie Review
In the opening scene of Aditya Verma, we see an old woman (Lila Samson) proud of her grandson with her friends talking about her obsessive nature. This scene informs why Aditya Verma (Dhruv Vikram) is that man.His grandmother is one of the people within his inner circle who has enabled his arrogant behavior since childhood and transforms him into an angry, rebellious, authorityless and abusive young man who cannot deny.
Given its troubled production, there was doubt as to if the film could be any good, but Giresaya is well-made, if believable, remake with Aditya Verma. The film is basically as intense, with a major performance that suggests we can witness the birth of a star. Dhruv Vikram comes with a performance that captures the intense and raw work from the original note to Vijay Deverakonda’s note, but there are an assurance and honesty here that makes us appreciate it rather than dismiss it as a mere gimmick.
